Philosophy
SECOND OPINIONS
MATTER
The term "Second Opinion" refers to the advice or opinion secured from a second expert in an effort to compare perspectives on an approach or management previously offered. At Second Opinion, LLC, each client is given the opportunity to confidentially share their health and wellness concerns, trusting that after records are reviewed, each of their question will be answered in an evidence -based, independent written opinion.
MEET DR. LoBRANO
FOUNDER
Dr. Marcia B. LoBrano, MD, MPH is an experienced Emergency Medicine and Preventive Medicine physician and Founder of Second Opinion, LLC, a health and wellness consulting practice in metropolitan D.C.
Dr. LoBrano received an undergraduate Liberal Arts education at the H. Sophie Newcomb College of Tulane University and subsequently earned the medical degree from The George Washington University School of Medical and Health Sciences in Washington, D.C. Thereafter she completed residency training in Emergency Medicine at Emory University and is board certified. After more than 15 years of clinical practice, two experiences drew her into public health and population focused medicine-serial clinical encounters with the uninsured, under-insured and others without access to basic primary health care and health leadership within her local church. Moved and motivated, she secured the Masters of Public Health and completed residency training in General Preventive Medicine at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health where she served as Chief Resident.
Prior to starting Second Opinion, LLC, Dr. LoBrano worked for a large managed care organization before serving as the Chief Medical Officer for a federally qualified health system. She and her clinical team were responsible for 12 practice sites and 60,000 lives in the metropolitan D.C. area. While actively engaging in the development of private-public partnerships to share best practices and improve health outcomes, she championed providers actively teaching the economic utility of prevention, engaging in the practice of evidence-based medicine, and working for health care as a universal human right.
